Denver, Colorado, is also known as the ‘Mile High City ‘ and stands between the American West and the Great Plains, close to the famous Rocky Mountains. The city of Denver is a friendly metropolis, with numerous tree-lined boulevards, more than 200 city parks and striking architecture, ranging from historic buildings to breathtaking, modern skyscrapers.

Other popular sights to see in Denver include the Colorado State Capitol – completed in 1886, with a stunning 24-carat gold plated dome and views of the Rockies; the US Mint — where visitors are able to watch coins being produced; the Four Mile Historic Recreation area – featuring the oldest home in Denver, dating back to 1859; the Molly Brown House – once the house from the famous ‘unsinkable’ Molly Brown, full of information about her life and her journey on the ill-faited Titanic; and the Byers-Evans House – an opulent Victorian home built by a famous newspaper editor.
The town contains many cultural museums and similar attractions, such as the Children’s Museum of Denver – packed with hands-on exhibits designed especially for younger visitors; the Co History Art gallery – a comprehensive museum documenting the state’s varied history; the Firefighters Museum — house to historical fire fighting equipment; the Denver colorado Art Memorial – containing many galleries and showcasing a wide range of artwork from around the world; the Wings over the Rockies Air and Space Museum – with more than 40 planes and spacecraft on display; the Museum of Contemporary Artwork – surprisingly the city’s only contemporary art museum; plus the Denver Art gallery of Nature and Science – brimming with innovative exhibits and an IMAX theater.
Tourist attractions located near to central Denver include Buffalo Bill’s Museum and Grave in Golden, the Butterfly Pavilion and Insect Center in Westminster, the Denver Mountain Parks on the city’s outskirts, the Dinosaur Ridge in Morrison, the Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park in Canon Town, Tiny Town in Morrison, and the historic gold mining town of Idaho Springs.
